There was a time when holiday decorating meant breaking out the green and red, and of course, some gold for good measure. But not anymore!

The possibilities are endless for colour combinations during the holiday season.

This year Sherwin Williams announced Oceanside (SW6496) as its Colour of the Year for 2018. So you can expect to see this mixture of blue and green to be popping up on everything from tabletop to tree décor throughout the month of December.

The marine-inspired hue is both lively and calming, making it an ideal choice for decorating during the busiest time of the year. Its depth of tone mixes well with both silver and gold to incorporate some of the more glamourous elements of seasonally-inspired decorating.

Historically, this Mediterranean influenced colour has been associated with Mid-Century Modern style. But given its luxurious qualities, the blue and green combination works in a traditional or transitional setting with ease.
