The Ottawa 2017 Bureau in collaboration with the ByWard Market is proudly welcoming Inspiration Village to its doorstep this summer from May 20th to September 4th on York Street.

A celebration of Canada is coming to the Byward Market this summer in honour of the year long celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary. Inspiration Village is an innovative and edgy instillation exhibit that is made entirely from sea shipping containers that have been transformed to depict Canada’s provinces and territories. The cost effective and sustainable sea shipping containers serve as a flexible building material that will bring modern beauty and eco-friendly innovation to Ottawa.

The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada is teaming up with Ottawa 2017 to bring Inspiration Village to life. All aspects of the project, from architects, to engineers, and programming staff, are locally based, creating a real community of partners and engagement. The unique and modern design of the sea shipping containers is set to become an exciting public programming space for all, as locals and tourists alike will enjoy Inspiration Village. This entertainment locale is free of charge and open to the public.

Aside from the art instillation, spectators will enjoy a stage where promising local talent will perform.

Much like the refurbished sea shipping containers, Inspiration Village is bringing a new and exciting light into the heart of downtown Ottawa. Located on York Street, businesses in the ByWard Market are excited to welcome this vibrant hub of activity, art, and entertainment to their doorsteps in celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary.
