Punch
INGREDIENTS
- ½ cup vodka
- ½ cup apple cider
- ½ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- ½ cup spiced Demerara syrup (see below)
- 1 bottle sparkling wine
- Cinnamon sticks and apple fans, ?for garnish
METHOD
Combine all ingredients except sparkling wine and garnish in a large punch bowl and stir. Slowly pour in bottle of sparkling wine and gently stir. Ladle into wine glasses and garnish each with a cinnamon stick and apple fan.
Spiced Demerara Syrup
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup Demerara OR brown sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 star anise
- 1½ tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- Peel of 1 orange
METHOD
Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 20 minutes. Cool to room temperature and strain through several layers of cheesecloth into a glass jar. Keep sealed in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
