Ottawa At Home magazine celebrated the launch of its first issue under new ownership with Ottawa At Home media Inc. The winter edition made its appearance with a stylish event held at Cadieux Interiors’ luxurious showroom on February 17, 2016. Approximately 100 guests enjoyed cocktails, delicious food and a chance to meet and mingle in an elegant setting that reflected the pages of Ottawa’s favourite lifestyle and décor magazine.
“Cadieux is a valued new client and we couldn’t think of another place in the city more fitting to host our launch event,” explained Mary Taggart, owner, publisher and editor-in-chief of Ottawa at Home. “The backdrop showcasing some of the finest furnishings available in the city made it the perfect choice. We worked closely with Rob Moran and his team to bring several key themes to life. Cadieux’s designers went to work to recreate some of the pages of Ottawa At Home to show the latest in decor trends with mood boards featuring the Glamily Room and New Traditional decor.”
The event’s atmosphere was unified through the use of Pantone’s two colours of the year for 2016, Rose Quartz and Serenity. From flowers to cocktails to cakepops and more, the colour scheme pleasantly punctuated the showroom’s chic, neutral tones. Custom confections baked for the event by Macarons et Madeleines as well as Alyssia Morena from Crave Desserts added sweet touches. Devon Ford was on hand to provide expert assistance, helping to create an elegant bar setting as well as serving up Pantone-inspired cocktails imagined by Ottawa At Home’s Olivia Taggart. The crowning touch on the event’s edible offerings was a gorgeous charcuterie table prepared by La Bottega Nicastro. Flowers for the event were styled by Flowers Talk Tivoli.
The gathering included Ottawa At Home staff as well as business leaders, media personalities and designers. Among the many in attendance were U.S. Ambassador to Canada Bruce Heyman and his wife Vicki Heyman, CTV Morning Live’s Jeff Hopper, CTV producer Carolan Lesaux, the Ottawa Citizen’s Janet Wilson and Caroline Phillips. Local designers who came to celebrate with included Jennifer McGahan, Sarah Taggart, Leonhard Vogt, Henrietta Southam, LeeAnn Lacroix, Susan Bryson, Mary Clare Carter and Tania Kratt. Also present were philanthropist Gary Zed and Arlie Koyman, Ottawa Business Journal publisher Michael Curran, Glenview's Ian Shabinsky, Crossford’s Lindsay Nicol, Tamarack Homes' Chris Taggart, McLoughlin Media's Laura Peck and Roger Biddle from Lightswitch Creative, who spearheaded the creation of Ottawa At Home’s new website.
