Ottawa At Home magazine has been the magazine sponsor for the Homes for the Holidays tour in support of Hospice Care Ottawa for the past several years. We peek into some of the city’s most gracious homes, all dressed in holiday splendour. The tour kicks off the festive season in Ottawa but it offers so much more than the grand decorations that await visitors in each home.

Year after year volunteers turn to the community asking for help to bring the elaborate house tour to life.  The call is answered by florists, decorators and designers who put their talent to work transforming homes into holiday showcases.

This year 1400 ticket holders toured eight homes and help to raise $158,350 for Hospice Care Ottawa. Decorations represented all that the season has to offer from traditional Christmas dinner to a New Years Eve tribute. Each home brought inspirations for a variety of holiday decorating styles.

Homeowners unanimously state the desire to support a cause that offers dignified care to terminally ill patients as their reason for participating in the tour. Florists and homeowners alike give much of themselves, their homes and businesses and all agree that the experience is rewarding given the nature of the work being done by Hospice Care Ottawa.
