In an effort to unite in the celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary, celebrated in Ottawa, Ottawa 2017 festivities kick off with a family friendly event at City Hall on December 31st. Beginning with the lighting of the Ottawa 2017 Cauldron and continuing with hundreds of Ottawa area students forming a 750 metre Fire of Friendship Torch Relay. The event aims to connect young people from diverse backgrounds. The youthful line of optimism will weave its way to Parliament Hill where the friendship flame will re-ignite the historic Centennial Flame.
EVENT SCHEDULE
5:30 pm – City Hall, site opens to public with Enbridge New Year’s Eve BBQ (free hot dogs, while quantities last), free coffee and hot chocolate offered by Tim Hortons, DJ Rise Ashen and on-site animation.
6:15 pm – Ceremony & lighting of the Ottawa 2017 Cauldron which will be lit and burning brightly throughout this historic year.
6:45 pm – Fire of Friendship Torch Relay

7:45 pm – Fire of Friendship arrives at Queen’s Gate on Parliament Hill
to re-ignite the historic Centennial Flame.
