Despite the weather outside, Ottawa's who's who braved a late February storm to get their shopping fix, sip champagne, and mingle with friends, all while helping raise funds for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation.
From double-wrap watches to pyramid-studded totes and colourful sandals, the 2013 Michael Kors spring line had everyone craving warmer days and humming along to California Dreamin' at the second annual shopping event in support of Team BFF—Breast Friends Forever—for Bust a Move Ottawa. The successful shopping night raised just over $7,000. Team BFF is made up of 18 women, including Ottawa At Home contributors Melissa Shabinsky, Korey Kealey and Mary Taggart.
Skinny jeans in bright colours, classic navy and white stripes and, for a twist, navy and lime green plus an array of vibrant colours brightened the Rideau Centre boutique. Leanne Cusack from CTV News At Noon took home a turquoise summer dress with gold chain detailing at the neck, while Team BFF member Krista Kealey, VP communications and public affairs for the Ottawa International airport, picked up a pair of gold studded sandals. Clearly warmer weather was on everyone's mind.
Guests who attended the charity event were treated to $50 off any purchase they made over $75. The champagne was flowing as freely as the conversation and laughter; it was guilt-free shopping at its best, all for a worthwhile cause.
Bust a Move took place Saturday, March 2nd, where hundreds of participants gathered for an entertaining day-long fitness fundraiser that included a work-out with fitness guru Tommy Europe. Team BFF took home the honours of being the top fundraisers, contributing $23,000 to the cause. The event, held at the Ottawa Athletic Club, raised over $301,000 for the Ottawa Regional Cancer foundation.
