Décor trends for 2019 express a current mood for uplifting vibrancy. The much-anticipated Pantone colour of the year 2019 was announced in early December 2018; “Living Coral” is a muted orange tone with Caribbean elements to bring an uplifting vibe to the style scene.

Colour is one of the most important aspects of décor for 2019. Adding strong pops of deep jewel tones to kitchen, living and dining rooms through paint, furnishings and accessories, in modest amounts, will bring rooms up-to-date. Find deep colours like navy blue and forest green on sofas, in carpets and even kitchen cabinets.

Pattern play is another influential element in décor. Floor tiles for both kitchen and bathroom have intriguing qualities with Moroccan inspired prints coming in strong. Kitchens and bathrooms are bidding farewell to their slick contemporary style of years past and becoming much more ornate. Kitchen designers are having fun creating layered textural spaces.

Personal space is finally getting the attention it deserves. Now is the time to invest in a beautiful bed; the four-poster will be one of the most sought after styles for 2019. The spa inspired bathroom has been in vogue for a while but requires a larger room than many urban spaces offer. This year we’ll see smaller spaces getting the full treatment through chic décor. Set the mood with dark colour schemes in bathrooms where dramatic black is right on trend.

Traditional design style plays a leading role in décor with depth in colour and investment furnishings. Its safe to say that in 2019 there will be no place like home.
